Hi,
Can anyone please help. My cd drive just stopped working on my Toshiba Satellite c850 (Windows 8.1) and when I did a little research it said it was a driver problem (and easy to fix)so I tried to fix it myself by downloading the driver programme suggested but I couldn't use it as I didn't have my licence key for it.
Since then my mouse has now stopped working but only on my profile (fine on my daughters) it won't let me system refresh, it won't let me system restore and it won't recognise any hardware in the usb ports, so I can't update my files to my external hard drive so I can wipe it and start again. Oh and the CD still doesn't work.
I think I definitely broke it :( can anybody help with an idiots guide to computing? Or should I find a shop for professional help.

Try downloading slimdriver to update Ur driver for free then try running Ur PC in safe mode and use Ur profile as I suppose Ur daughters profile does not have administer rights to install or update drivers however if all fails u can still boot from internet

Thank you so much! I've managed to restore and my mouse is working again. Sadly my CD drive still isn't working so I think I'll have to take it to get looked at. Again many thanks for your help! :)
