I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 Windows Vista Basic. Turned it on and it said it couldn't boot up tried to do recovery and it was gone. WhenI bbought it no disc came with. Was told to make backup system disc did that tried to run it no go there either. Now it has Windows 8.1 added a you have to pick operating system when booting. Runs slow and came with dvd/cd player but says it's only cd have to use another program to run that. I want to know what to do to repair.

Hello,
on Dell Inspiron computers, there is a masked partition that contains the Backup of your system (it is the Recovery).
To restore your computer to the factory settings, follow this : DELL Inspiron - Restore to factory default settings.

In IT, there is always a solution
