Windows 7 recovery media - Toshiba L755-S5256
Closed
Hello,
Laptop is currently at Geek Squad. Failed a hard drive test, so we replaced it. They offered to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 (FREE) but cannot do so because product key sticker on bottom of laptop is worn and they can only read a few numbers. Asked me to contact Toshiba and get recovery media disk.
Researching on Toshiba product support how to create Free recovery media... BUT want to confirm that I have to create it on the laptop with the problem. I can't use my desktop to create the disks, right?
Would Press & Hold "0" work to get to Windows 7 product key info if brand new hard drive installed?
Geek Squad not willing to do any direct downloading - for "firewall reasons"
Thank you!

Hello,
If they've replaced the hard drive how did they get the installation of Windows on to it?
they just have used a key?
Pressing 0 would only work if you had the manufacturer image on your laptop. A fresh installation of Windows from a CD would not have the Toshiba recovery tools.
You can purchase recovery media that you do not have to make on the laptop, it is abour £40 and can be obtained from here:
