WD My Passport 1TB not detected

Hello,
Doesn't appear in My Computer, Device Manager and Disk Management.
Pls help on this. I have a lot of files in my external hard disk so im very much worried if I can't use it again and access my files.

Hey there, Chito.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your drive. Did anything in particular happen before the issue occurred? Do you hear the drive spin or feel it vibrate when you connect it?
Try the HDD with a different USB cable (preferably shorter than 12") and a different computer, to see if the same thing happens.
If that doesn't help, I'd recommend that you try accessing the drive via Ubuntu Live USB, to see if it's properly recognized and if you can get to your files. If this doesn't prove useful as well, you could try data recovery software, or go directly for a professional solution, such as a data recovery company: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=PDMJC8

Everytime windows updates, I have this problem

is it that when the windows update, the drivers also update and hence your hard disk is not recognized. How old is your hdd?

Check specifications for the HD on the retail box or online will tell you enough information.

Check the cables/data port etc.
