No internet connection

Get error message "No internet connection." Failed to connect to the internet. If you need to use a proxy server to connect to the internet, you can specify this under Settings - Proxy. What do I need to do to fix the problem? I have Win 7 pro and have access to the internet. I tried to read about proxy, confusing for me.Thank you

It's possible that malware has infected your computer. I suggest you reset all the IE setting the their defaults and remove any Proxy Server that the Malware may have set.

I accidently formatted HD and restored to factory settings. I also ran system mechanic, one that I had previously. What do I do with IE and the proxy settings. We are getting into new areas for me. Thank you, Tom
