Hi Amanda,
Please check if the hard drive is recognized in BIOS. If you get a message that the drive is not detected, there may be a connectivity issue or a problem with the hard drive. If the laptop is under warranty, you should contact the seller. If warranty has expired, open the laptop and check if the drive is correctly connected. If you have the option, test it in a desktop PC, as a secondary storage drive. If the drive is not recognized by the desktop’s BIOS, the drive may have failed and you should replace it.
If the drive is working fine on another PC, but is missing in your laptop’s BIOS, the issue may be related with your laptop’s motherboard.
Hope this helps

I believe you should try the below fixes:
• Check whether the drive is visible in BIOS, if it is detected there, then try to fix it
• Or, remove hard drive from the existing computer and check it into another system
If the above fixes don’t work for you, then take your laptop to data repairing Centre.

It's possible you need to replace the drive. You can contact Dell and order a replacement hard drive that includes a copy of Wqindows.
Good Luck
