Laptop connection to lcd tv

Hello,
I have a dell laptop Inspiron 1525 and i am using windows vista. when i connect my laptop to my sony bravia lcd tv(40Inch) using hdmi cable the photo on the tv only comes on the half screen, is there any way i can make it full screen.

You should go on your display settings. and choose a resolution setting which will work on your tv

Hello Buddy,

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop hooked up to an Lcd tv and it was working just fine until yesterday when i tried to plug-in an splitter vga adapter so i could have 3 monitor at the same time including my laptop desktop, it didnt work so i tried to put back in the just the Tv that i had but is not working either,could you please help me out so i can have my 2 displays back in, i've tried everything,my video graphic card its working fine, i dont really understand,looking forward to hear from you soon,
