Forza Horizon 4 has no limits, as you can travel across hundreds of places at full speed, driving one of the 450 cars available in the game. This installment brings several improvements, and you can experience a much more fluid simulation of speed and dynamics. In addition, the scenarios are set in Great Britain, so be ready to be amazed by the beautiful landscapes, valleys, and castles. So what are you waiting for? Jump in the car and become the most excellent pilot ever!

Gameplay

  • Four seasons: You will go with the flow of the four seasons as they dynamically change over time. The weather conditions will change and affect how the car handles, forcing you to change your driving style accordingly. Note that these changes will apply to everyone, regardless of whether players play solo or cooperatively.
  • Challenges: You will progress in many ways, including completing challenges to earn Forzathon points. Those points can later be used to purchase unique items in the in-game store, like clothing, horns, additional wheelspins, and cars.
  • Compete and explore: Competing against other players is great in Forza Horizon 4. But taking the time to ride on your own and explore the different parts of the world, the various landscapes of Britain, and feeling the rich and good vibes is also a very cool experience.

  • Cars and real estate: You will enjoy and collect over 450 cars, including 100 licensed manufacturers. The performance and handling characteristics are leveling up in this title with more accurate car simulation techniques, crazily enhancing the level of immersiveness. You also have the opportunity to buy in-game houses and unlock new items, cards, and gameplay perks.
  • Artificial intelligence: The Forza series has been praised for its impressive AI implementation. Even if it is not the same as competing against real players, it allows you to play solo with good challenges.
  • Expansions: Forza Horizon 4 offers two additional expansions called Fortune Island and LEGO Speed Champions bundled with entirely new maps and content. This is refreshing.

Graphics and sound

Forza Horizon 4 is kind of a piece of art regarding graphics and sound as it offers highly detailed environments with gorgeous fauna and flora. Focusing on high-quality rendering, you will enjoy spectacular native 4K, HDR, high-resolution textures, and state-of-the-art lighting techniques. Moreover, the cars are incredibly well-modeled, providing incredible driving sensations during thrilling races, and you can even listen to different music genres on the radio.

Game modes

The game features single-player and multiplayer game modes:

  • Prologue: This is the introductory chapter of the game and the tutorial. The next four seasons, aka driving scenarios, will be showcased, and the controls described.
  • Horizon Life: This kind of session can group up to 72 players together, and they can interact with each other via quick chat phrases and play via Convoys, PvP, co-op events, and Forzathon live events. As you complete activities called series, you will get rewards for leveling up the series.
  • Festival Playlist: It displays all the Forzathon challenges and seasonal activities of a Series. It also shows your progress and all rewards you unlocked for completing seasonal activities. Furthermore, you will receive additional rewards for achieving high serial or seasonal progress.
  • Forzathon: Forzathon events are special timed events with solo challenges happening daily or weekly. They are unlocked after you have entered the Horizon roster and rotated with every season change.
  • The Eliminator: This is a battle royale game mode where up to 72 players face off in a shrinking arena until only one player remains. Head-to-head events are one-on-one sprints to a random finish point within an arena, and the winner is, of course, the one who reaches the finish point first. As the arena progressively shrinks over time, you will be forced to face each other.

What do the reviews say?

© Metacritic

Forza Horizon 4 has a Metacritic score of 88/100, which is pretty good.

"Forza Horizon 4 is a tremendous achievement and will most likely displace Gran Turismo Sport as my racing game of choice. Yes, even without a racing wheel. With hundreds of cars and dozens of race tracks and more to come, I won't run out of stuff to do any time soon. See you in Scotland." (GameCrate)
