Whatsapp message deleted

Hello,

scenario- I receive a whatsapp message with a jpeg from a number I don’t have saved in my contacts Phone is locked and I select clear notifications, will the message get deleted from chats? Media gets saved automatically on my phone generally and this jpeg is not in the media, could it have got deleted automatically as well?
iPhone / Safari 16.1

Hi,

No - clearing your notifications will not delete your messages on WhatsApp. I think that image hasn't been downloaded automatically. If you can't retrieve it in the chat, the sender has removed it.
