IPod syncing problems

Hello, I just got my new ipod nano 3 months ago and i have always been able to sync out of nowhere itunes couldnt read my ipod so it had me sign up and download all over again... Now i have nothing on my ipod and itunes is not allowing me to add anything. WHAT DO I DO!??!
