Hi All,

I was starting to format my external hard drive when one of the kids disconnected the usb cord.

Now the device isn't being recognized by the PC. Apart from the 'ding' when the device is connected and the fact that I can see it in the device manager (as a USB Mass Storage Device with Errors only) the pc does not interact with the device at all.

I've tried to pick it up in the Disk Management console to no avail. I have downloaded software to help with mounting drives e.g. Find & Mount - but they are all unable to view the hard drive at all.

I am using Win7.
The hard drive is a Seagate 1 TB

I'm not interested in data recovery - I just want to get it working again.

Any ideas?

Hi, Tashy_girl

As you can see it in the device manager (as a USB Mass Storage Device with Errors only). How about try this format tool to format your drive again.

https://ccm.net/downloads/tools/4639-hp-usb-disk-storage-format-tool/

After format, see if you can access your drive. Regards
