Gateway laptop will not power on, repeatedly reboots

Hello,
I have a gateway model MD2614u laptop and it will not turn on. The LED lights flash, and the fan turns on, but the startup programs don't run before it powers itself off and reboots automatically, but then it turns itself off as soon as it reaches the same point. I have looked through the forums and tried to power off/remove battery and press the power button for 20sec but that doesn't work. Any advice on fixing this, or should I just get a new laptop?
