Thank you
Hello,

Try this 1.

Click on Start --> Run ---> type diskmgmt.msc and click on OK.

Right-click on wd passport Drive --> Select "Change Drive Letter and Paths..." --->

Click on "Add" button ---> Select your drive letter and click on OK.

Note : If the drive letter is already assigned, then try changing the drive letter

by clicking on "Change" button instead of "Add" button in the above step.

If the problem still exists then

Click on Start --> Run --> type regedt32 and click on OK.

Registry Editor will be opened.

First backup your registry by going to File --> Export.

At the left side navigate to this location

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-

E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

If you see any upperfilter or lowerfilters at the right side delete it.

Good Luck.

Thank you, jack4rall 12

I can't answer the USB issue, but the case can be disassembled and the drive can be daisychained in another system using the IDE connector and powersupply connection. This should be done by someone that knows computer basics. The data is there, but not accessable by USB. Note: One of the indented dots on the WD case has a #1 phillips screw that must be removed, and a flex plastic retainer that must be depressed (on both ends of the case) to disassemble the unit. I just rescued data for a customer using this proceedure.

The USB. Hopefully you used the USB notifier in the TSR area to disconnect the drive. If you didn't, the usb connector may be fried.
Hope this helps.
