How to change the registered owner: Windows 11, 10, 7
Have you recently purchased a second hand PC, or you plan on selling yours? It is important that you change the registered owner. This article will show you how.
Change registered owner in Windows
To change the name under which Windows has been registered:
- Start Menu > Run > Type: regedit
- Expand the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
Locate these 2 keys:
- RegisteredOwner
- RegisteredOrganization keys
Simply change their values (replace it with the name of your choice).
