Step on the gas and enter one of the 32 crazy tracks offered by Mario Kart DS. Epic action and large doses of adrenaline are guaranteed in this installment for Nintendo DS. It also packs various exciting new features compared to its predecessors: you will find new characters, missions, and objects such as the Blooper or the Bullet Bill. Gameplay

  • Playable characters: In Mario Kart DS, you can play as Daisy, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Bones, Luigi, Mario, Princess Peach, ROB, Shy Guy, Toad, Wario, Yoshi, and Waluigi. They are waiting to be picked up by you.
  • Adrenaline rush: The main objective is to finish first in each of the crazy cart races that you participate in. Each character has 3 types of vehicles to choose from, and you can collect various useful objects along the way.
  • Attack your opponents: Some collectible objects serve to achieve more speed and gain an advantage over your opponents. Other objects, however, can be used to attack and slow down your enemies.
  • Complete missions: Besides the regular races, you will find a bunch of missions with fun and challenging objectives, for example attacking a specific enemy or collecting a certain number of coins.
  • Two new power-ups: The Blooper attack prevents enemies ahead of you from seeing by throwing a large amount of dark ink on their screens. On the other hand, Bullet Bill can only be used by those drivers who are in the last positions, and it serves to obtain greater speed so that you can overtake your opponents.

Graphics

Mario Kart DS has been praised by the community, largely due to its great graphical improvements. Another novelty is the appearance of retro circuits, inspired by previous Mario Kart games. Duration and game modes

Mario Kart DS comes with 5 different game modes:

  • Grand Prix: Pick your favorite character and compete against 7 opponents in 8 different cups: Mushroom, Flower, Star, Special, Shell, Banana, Leaf, and Lightning.
  • Time trial: Your objective is to finish a course as quickly as possible.
  • Versus: Race on a track of your choice against computer-controlled opponents or in local multiplayer.
  • Battle: This game mode has two versions. In Balloon Battle, you will have to steal the balloons of the opponents and in Shine Runners you will have to collect as many possible suns.
  • Missions: Your objective is to complete various missions, each of which is divided into different levels.
