How to delete your Apple ID

Apple has set up a new Data and Privacy page that allows users to easily delete their Apple ID. This site also allows you download the your accounts data, for backups, among other things. Keep reading to see how to get started.

How do you delete your Apple ID?

Go to the Data and Privacy site and log in:

On the home page, click on Request to delete your account at the bottom of the page. On the next screen you can note why you want your account deleted, or you can opt out:

Next you will receive a reminder of what happens when deleting your Apple ID. You should note that any subscriptions associated to the ID will be canceled, you will lose access to purchases from the iTunes and App store and you will lose access to iCloud and any content stored there. Remember to make a backup before requesting to delete your Apple ID if you haven't already done so!

Review and agree to the terms and conditions, then click Continue. On the next page you will select your preference for receiving status updates, by email or phone, and click Continue.

You will then receive an Access Code. Note this number somewhere safe as it's Apple's ID for your case and their way to confirm your identity:

Enter your Access Code into the following screen and click Continue. Here you will review Apple's reminders for when deleting your account. Click on Delete Account to make the request. This process generally takes up to a week.
