New Xiaomi 14: release, specs, HyperOS, price

The good old MIUI is becoming a thing of the past. The latest Xiaomi 14 series is the first smartphone from the brand to receive the new HyperOS User interface. Here we bring you the specifications of the new Xiaomi 14 series with HyperOS, and also list other existing models that will receive the new interface.

Xiaomi has begun rolling out HyperOS, the brand's new smartphone interface

The MIUI User interface, based on the Android Open Source operating system, was first released in 2010 and has been used all these years in the brand's mobile gadgets. Since then the Chinese corporation has significantly increased the range of its products. Today it includes smartphones, tablets, laptops, smart watches and home gadgets, car equipment and even robots. To connect these devices into a single ecosystem, Xiaomi has been working on creating a new interface for the last few years. And now the company has announced that it will stop using MIUI in its new products and will replace it with a completely new HyperOS interface. Its architecture  combines Linux with the functions of the Vela system, developed for other types of gadgets of the company. The global nature of the new software is reflected in the name HyperOS itself. HyperOS is built on Android 14 using its own HyperMind AI subsystem, which, according to Xiaomi, expands the capabilities of system applications.

As stated by Xiaomi, the new OS will gradually replace MIUI, and the first model series to receive the new skin is  Xiaomi 14. The Chinese company premiered Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 14 Pro and some other new products on October 26 as part of the new "Human X Car X Home" ecosystem. In China, Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are already available for pre-order, but in Europe and other countries they will arrive no earlier than the coming 2024. In the USA, as in the case of Xiaomi 13, those who want to purchase the new Xiaomi flagships will most likely have to rely on ordering from abroad. Most likely, the price of Xiaomi 14 in the UK and other European countries will not be cheaper than £850 (999 euros), and the price of Xiaomi 14 Pro will be £1099 (1299 euros)

The Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro offer a similar design to Xiaomi 13 but with larger camera arrays. Its display uses C8 light-emitting material with a peak brightness of 3000 nits, which provides improved viewing in strong sunlight, and the detail rendering of the smartphone screen has improved compared to its predecessor thanks to the pixel density being increased to 460 pixels per inch, with a variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 Hz.

The cameras use Leica Summilux optical lenses with an improved ƒ/1.6 aperture on the main camera, which work together with the new Light Fusion 900 sensor to achieve 180% higher light absorption than its predecessor. The smartphone has a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, as well as a floating telephoto lens with a focal length of 75 mm.

Xiaomi 14 has got a USB 3.2 Gen1 5Gbps port, which provides data transfer speeds 10 times faster than the previous generation. It has 4 microphones and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The battery has a capacity of 4610 mAh, with support for fast charging.

The Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro are equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, enhanced by Loop LiquidCool technology, which is designed to improve stability when playing games and streaming videos. The advanced version, Xiaomi 14 Pro, stands out with a 6.7-inch Allaround Liquid display, with ceramic protective glass and WQHD+ resolution and a pixel density of 522 ppi. This model is equipped with a USB 3.2 10Gbps port, providing data transfer speeds up to 20 times faster than Xiaomi 13 Pro.

The new flagships are available in four different colors: Jade Green, Black, White and Snow Mountain Pink.
