The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs (2018)

This Netflix original production and an anthology film by the Coen brothers show a mixture of a western and black comedy set in a nostalgic scenario. With six independent stories told in different chapters all with their own characters and aesthetics. The Cohens have explained that it took them a quarter of a century to write the script for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, which was originally intended to be a series. The cast includes Tim Blake Nelson, Liam Neeson, James Franco, Zoe Kazan, Tyne Daly, and Tom Waits. It was well-received by the critics and received three Oscar nominations.

Wine Country (2019)

In honor of Rebecca's 50th birthday, Abby organizes a wonderful trip to Napa together with 4 of their their very best friends: the workaholic Catherine, the homebody Jenny, the burned-out mom Naomi, and Val, who is just recovered from a knee surgery. They are looking forward to to a long weekend of kicking back and relaxation. But a few glasses of wine and hours of gossip and laughter, their real-world insecurities surface, and the women begin to question their friendship and future.

Bad Trip (2021)

Bad Trip feels like a blend between the cult films Jackass and Borat. The two life-long friends Bud Malone (Lil Rel Howery) and Chris Carey (Eric André) drive all the way from Florida to New York, so that Chris can chase down the his high school crush Maria. The friends do not own a car, so Bud decides to steal his sister Trina's (Tiffany Haddish) car. Fresh out of prison, Trina is far from happy when she finds out her car is missing, so she decides to pursue the roadtrippers. The storyline is narrated by the means of a never-ending series of pranks. While sometimes a bit over-the-top, most of the pranks are absolutely hilarious, so be prepared to find yourself rolling on the floor laughing!

Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979)

After its release in 1979, it didn’t take long for The Life of Brian to become one of the most acclaimed movies of Monty Python, the subject follows the life of Jesus Christ and a wrongly appointed Messiah looking to the bright side of life while making this film a cult classic. The Life of Brian, which has subsequently been used to explain blind faith or human stupidity applied to any moment in history, is considered by many to be the best comedy film of all time. If you believe in comedy as a true form of freedom, this can be a good movie to enjoy on Netflix.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)

This film starring and written by Will Ferrell and alongside Rachel McAdams, tells the story of Icelandic singers Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdóttir whose dream is to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest. The story of Fire Saga (which is the name of the fictional band that gives the film its title) was to be released to coincide with the famous musical event that every year brings together millions of spectators in front of the television, but which had to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite a synopsis that may not seem the most attractive, the result is a hilarious comedy in which you can also expect to see cameos by Pierce Brosnan, Dan Stevens, and Demi Lovato.

Don't Look Up (2021)

When astronomer Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his intern Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) discover an incoming comet capable of ending life on Earth in six months, they immediately reach out to NASA with the purpose of setting up an appointment with the US president. The president is not happy with the bad news as it may affect him in his run-up to the elections, so he decides not to take any action for the time being. Together with space defense expert Dr. Teddy Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan),  Randall and Kate decide to leak their findings to the media, but that does not appear to have the desired effect...

Always Be My Maybe (2019)

Childhood friends Sasha (Ali Wong) and Marcus (Randall Park) broke up 15 years ago and haven't spoken to each other ever since. However, when Sasha, now a celebrity chef in Los Angeles, returns to her hometown of San Francisco to open a new restaurant, she runs into her old boyfriend -a gleeful musician who still lives at home and works for his father. Reluctant to reconnect, they soon find that the old sparks of love -and possibly also some new ones- are still there.
