Stranger Things season 4: release date, part 2
The long-awaited season 4 of Stranger Things has arrived on Netflix divided into two installments. After seven episodes of reunions, adventures and a new impending danger in Hawkins, we tell you what has changed and what you can expect from the second part, and the future of Stranger Things!
When does the second part of season 4 of 'Stranger Things' premiere?
The gang from Hawkins are back to fill our summer afternoons with good streaming. After a break of several years, especially due to Covid-19, one of Netflix's star series returns, this time, with its release divided into two parts. After the first seven episodes of the fourth installment, which arrived on May 27, we will have to wait a few more weeks until July 1, to see the end.
Like all premieres, the streaming giant will put the remaining episodes of the season online that day at midnight Los Angeles time. This date has not been chosen randomly, since it coincides with a holiday weekend in the United States, which increases the possibility that viewers in that country will see the remaining episodes in one sitting.
According to Netflix, the total duration of these two episodes is more than 3 hours: the eighth episode will last 1 hour and 25 minutes and the last episode of the season almost two hours and 30 minutes. If you are still hesitating to see this new season of 'Stranger Things', we tell you that it has received very good reviews and comments on the internet. For example, on Rotten Tomatoes it already has a 94% popularity rating.
What happens in the fourth season?
Attention: spoilers. If you haven't seen the third or fourth season of the series, skip this section.
After the third season of Stranger Things, several plot threads have been left open: the town of Hawkins suffers a new attack from the 'Upside Down' and its Demogorgon; the Russians are involved in a conspiracy that not much is known about yet, but they have managed to take Hopper; Joyce Byers tries to start a new life in California with Will and Eleven who seems to have lost her powers. Meanwhile, the Hawkins gang venture to investigate the mysterious Creel House, which could hide the true root of the strange events plaguing the town.
As for what happens with the characters, we could have several surprises: Mike and Eleven have been separated by circumstances, as have Jonathan and Natalia, who will have to put their long-distance relationships to the test. On the other hand, it seems that Joyce and Murray will travel to Russia in search of Hopper, after receiving a package that confirms his survival.
On the other hand, Jonathan has a new friend, Argyle, a young pizza maker who is also fond of weed. For their part, Dustin and Will have join a gaming club from the popular Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game, with a group of 'renegade' boys, led by new character Eddie Munson, called the 'Hellfire Club'.
To continue the surprises, one of the series' teasers shows us that there could be more children like Eleven, and that they will play an important role in saving Hawkins (and perhaps the world) from the imminent danger of war and the ever-present presence more constant of the 'Upside Down'.
How many episodes in Season 4?
Netflix has announced that this penultimate season, divided into two parts, will have nine episodes in total.
Part 1
- 'The Hellfire Club'
- 'Vecna's Curse'
- 'The Monster and the Superhero'
- 'Dear Billy'
- 'The Nina Project'
- 'The Dive'
- 'The Massacre at Hawkins Lab'
Part 2
- 'Papa'
- 'The Piggyback'
Who are the new characters in the series?
In season 3 we had to say goodbye to some characters like Jim Hopper (David Harbour) who was caught by the Russians and Billy Hargrove (Max's brother, played by Dacre Montgomery) although, knowing the creators of the series, we can expect any surprises in these last few episodes. Especially after having seen Montgomery upload a photo to Instagram playing his character... a simple coincidence?
On the other hand, we have the group of friends of Hawkins with the new members of the previous seasons: Robin (Maya Hawke), Max (Sadie Sink) and Erica Sinclair (Priah Ferguson). In this new season, characters are added that will be central to the development of the story, for example, we will also see the brother of actress Maya Hawke, playing a boy with a rather 'punk' look. Other characters that join the saga are Peter Ballard (played by Jamie Campbell Bower), a psychiatric hospital paramedic; Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), a metalhead who will be one of the main protagonists of the season, Vickie (Amybeth McNulty), a geek who will fall in love with one of the boys; Patrick (Myles Truitt), another boy from Hawkins whose daily life will also be affected by strange events; Miss Kelly (Regina Ting Chen), a school counselor who will take care of struggling students, and Chrissy (Grace Van Dien), a popular high school cheerleader who is also hiding a dark secret.
On the side of the villains, we will see a new monster more powerful than the previous ones: Vecna. We know that this creature has long inhabited the Upside Down and is the 'bogeyman' of the Creel haunted house. However, we still don't know how he'll attack his victims, but it looks like he'll be a lot creepier than the bad guys from previous seasons.
Will there be a 5th Season of Stranger Things?
The fourth season is not over yet and all the fans want to know the most important thing: will there be a season number 5? To everyone's delight, the creators of 'Stranger Things', the Duffer brothers, have given the first details of season 5 of the successful science fiction and horror series.
In an interview with the Collider website, the Duffers explained that while writing the scripts for the fourth season, they also outlined the plot for the fifth and final season. They said that, unlike previous seasons, in which they finished the scripts as they were filming, the pandemic gave them a break, which allowed them to write the fourth season before filming began and also plot "all the fifth". Therefore, they describe the two as connected, as they themselves consider seasons 4 and 5 as "one piece". No official premiere date for Stranger Things season 5 has been announced for now.
