Dead Island 2 is a role-playing zombie survival game set in the beautiful and vibrant state of California. Plot

Ten years after the events of Dead Island, the US government and US military have put California under a full quarantine restricted zone as a new uncontrollable and stronger zombie outbreak has started. As you try to survive, you will do everything it takes to uncover the truth behind that outbreak and discover who you are.

Gameplay

Slayers and skill cards: Embody the slayer you want among Jacob, Amy, Ryan, Dani, Carla, or Bruno, each with a unique personality and dialogues. Powerful sets of skill cards have also been introduced to enhance your slayer abilities by swapping and combining them. Whenever you want, you can fully re-spec and try other unique combinations depending on the situation. The large number of skills cards, characters, weapons, and equipment combinations seem to add a lot of replayability.
Zombies bestiary: New epic and dangerous foes are in town and ready to tear you apart on the first occasion. If you are assured of finding all the zombies from the other titles, you will also be surprised by the wildest and most dangerous variants, like the inferno crusher, the spiky runner, the grenade walker, and more to come. Regarding gameplay, all the different zombies will challenge your skills through many different situations.
Weapons: This time again, you will take advantage of a large arsenal of weapons, such as a Katana, Metal Pipe, Pickaxe, Machete, Brass Knuckles, Chainsaw, and Bear Claws, but also some guns and rifles. What seems very promising and innovative is your capability to customize and upgrade your weapons with workbenches, DIY mods, and perks. All kinds of electric or flaming weapons and other unique combinations will truly spice up the combats.

Equipment: More pieces of equipment and items are at your disposal to offer lethal and tactical advantages, like the meat bait, which attracts zombies away before exploding, and many different brand-new curveballs.
Combats: Thanks to FLESH, the dismemberment technology, you can spectacularly slice muscles, crush bones, and dislocate bodies. The locational damage system allows you to target weaknesses depending on the enemy you encounter. Besides, the combats are dynamic as there is lots of room for reflex and dodging moves. In a nutshell, you will experience epic combats boosted by the sophisticated crowd control system managing the zombies' hordes.

No matter where you go, there are multiple ways you can try, stashes to discover, crazy characters to meet and unlock, as well as many side-quests. The graphics seem to look very polished, the world is vast, the zombies are gorgeously bloody and alive, the animations make your moves smooth, and the atmosphere is vibrant thanks to all the visual effects. Also, high-definition textures and modern lighting techniques combined with polished sound effects turn this world into an immersive experience.
