GTA V is a must in many aspects and has set open-world quality standards that most modern games keep following. Developed by a fantastic team, driven by a strong community of fans, full of diversified content and excellent storytelling, GTA V is a masterpiece on every level.

Plot

Your journey will start with a million-dollar heist affair with the three iconic protagonists: Michael De Santa, Franklin Clinton, and Trevor Philips. The next heist is planned to be in a bank located in Ludendorff, North Yankton. Unfortunately, the escape part goes wrong when Michael is shot by the police and left behind by his companions. Arrested and interrogated by the FBI, they offer Michael to collaborate with them in exchange for a life of luxury. Michael accepts the offer but knows he will stay the same man. For better or worse, he might meet Franklin and Trevor again. The question is, what will the future hold for Michael?

Gameplay

• Three iconic protagonists: In this title, you can control alternatively one of the three main characters, the retired bank robber Michael De Santa, the street gangster Franklin Clinton, and drug dealer and gunrunner Trevor Philips. Each of them has a unique and deep background that makes them more authentic and strengthens the narrative.

• A rich world: GTA V's map is vast compared to other GTA titles and all the other games (even compared to Cyberpunk 2077), over 75 square kilometers based on total areas (almost four times the size of GTA IV), and over 48 square kilometers based on land areas (nearly five times the size of GTA IV). But above all, the city and its surroundings look alive and contain a great diversity of biomes and atmosphere, a good AI, and lots of action.
• Tons of vehicles: In GTA V, you will be able to buy or steal hundreds of different vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, helicopters, planes, boats, and all kinds of special types of vehicles such as military, industrial, remote-controlled, and many more. There is almost no limit to what type of vehicle you will be able to use. Lots of different famous brands are also available.

• Huge arsenal: To protect yourself or to do what you have to do, you will find a great diversity of weapons categories such as melee, pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, rifles, submachine guns, heavy artillery, and projectiles. Almost hundreds of well-simulated and fun different weapons are available.
• Face your foes: This is a mad world you're living in, and lots of people will swear to anything to kill you, such as the corrupted FBI agent Steve Haines, the businessman Devin Weston, the gang member Harold Joseph, or the leader of the triads Wei Cheng.
• Physics and driving: GTA V has been developed using the proprietary RAGE's physics engine that is famous for its unique and special physics rules that bring so much fun to the game. The whole physics engine has been improved for this title, including new vehicle physics, underwater physics, new above physics similar to GTA IV, more realistic aircraft and turbulence physics, or player damage in high-speed vehicle accidents. More rigid body improvements have also been added to improve how objects and vehicles react when deformed or how characters react when they walk up a steep slope (they will stumble and ragdoll down the hill).

• Grand Theft Auto Online: GTA Online has built a strong player community that keeps growing. Even though Rockstar communicated they don't consider GTA Online as part of GTA V, they may have lots in common. GTA Online allows you to play either in free mode, with your friends, or against other players. Furthermore, it brings lots of new refreshing content incorporated into GTA V, making GTA Online a real competitor of games such as Fortnite or League of Legends.
• Strong community, gorgeous mods: GTA V has a big community of fans and players that created lots of stunning mods to customize your experience. You will find graphics mods to make the overall graphics look more realistic, take control of any NPC, more appearance customization, tweakable physics properties, and lots more.

Graphics and sound

When it comes to graphics and optimization, GTA V is undoubtedly a technical masterpiece. The games graphics pipeline features the most advanced techniques based on hardware specifications. The physically-based rendering techniques combine cascaded shadow maps and volumetric shadow, screen space reflection, screen-space ambient occlusion, and more, resulting in gorgeous and smooth images of up to 4k resolution. The game runs like a charm at 60 FPS, and you can adjust many settings (shadows, viewing distance, reflections, post-processed effects, resolution, etc.). In addition, as we have mentioned, there are a large number of mods that allow you to customize GTA V graphics.

GTA V's OST is superb, and audio feedback effects are also high-quality and seem very authentic. It makes the experience more immersive, more engaging, and makes sure you always understand what happens around you.

Duration and game modes

The main game mode is the story mode, where you will follow the story of GTA V with Michael De Santa, Franklin Clinton, Trevor Philips and complete a series of missions. The story mode is about 30 hours long if you focus on the main objectives and can last up to 80 hours if you are a completionist. You can play GTA Online and access a world full of possibilities, such as the free mode, where you will be able to do whatever you want. Last but not least, if you're going to try a bit of roleplay, you can download and give FiveM a try to get access to dedicated servers.
