How to create Instagram filters with Spark AR Studio

Instagram offers the possibility of creating your own filter using Spark AR Studio available on your computer. This is our basic guide to using Spark AR Studio to create a filter for Instagram or Facebook.

How to create a filter for Instagram?

First of all, you need to download Spark AR Studio on your computer. Spark AR Studio is a tool from Facebook that allows you to create filters for Instagram. With it, anyone - and not just celebrities and famous brands - can have their own filter and make it available to other social network users. You can create effects around your face or any object.

After you have completed the download, you will first need to log in with your Facebook account details. Once you have done this, you can get started and create a new project by going into the Create New menu.

You will then have a choice of projects. You can choose from Plane Tracking, Target Tracking, Face Tracking and Blank Project. Select Blank Project. Now with the project open, go to the Scene Option in the upper left corner of the screen and click Add Object.

A window with options will open, where you must select the Face Tracker tool and click Insert in the lower right corner to insert it into the project.

Right-click on Face Tracker. Then, in the tab that opens, press Add > Plane. In the bottom left corner of the screen, click on Add Asset > Material.

Once you have done this, you can insert phrases into your filter (if you wish). To do this, select Add Asset again and then Import from computer. You can also import drawings and visual elements created in other editing software or found on the internet, such as GIFs and images. Click on Material and in the right window click the Texture tool. Select Choose File and choose the artwork already added.

If you want to change the position of the filter, change the numbers of the Position option. In Scale you can increase or reduce the image.

How to export the filter to Instagram?

To export your filter on Instagram, click on the Publish button. It takes a while until it is ready and approved. When this happens and all the boxes turn green, click on Export.

The program will then offer the option to open the Spark AR Hub to publish the filter into Instagram. To do this, select Open Spark Ar Hub and Start.

When defining the destination of the filter, select Instagram and give it a name. Once you have done this, click Next, add a thumbnail to the effect and finish by clicking Load and Continue. Once you have done this, Instagram will offer you the possibility to see a preview of the filter before publishing it.
