How to block someone on Hangouts: Web, Android, iOS

This tutorial explains how to block a contact on Google Hangouts. Once you have blocked someone on Hangouts, the person won't be able to see when you are signed in or get in touch with you. In addition, you won't receive notifications or direct messages from this person.

How to block someone on Hangouts on a web browser?

• Open Hangout
• To open the conversation, select the person from the Hangouts list.
• At the top of the conversation, click Settings > Block and report.
• Select the 'Also report' tick box if you want to report abuse.
• Unselect the 'Also report' tick box to only block the person.
• Click Confirm.

How to block someone on Hangouts on Android?

• Open the Hangout app.
• Open a Hangouts conversation.
• Tap More options >  People.
• Select the person to block > Block.
• Tap Block.

How to block someone on Hangouts on iOS?

• Open the Hangout app.
• At the bottom, open the Conversations tab.
• Open a Hangouts conversation.
• At the top right, tap More options >  People.
• Select the person to block > Block.
• Tap Block.
