Hide Profile Pictures in Outlook

By default Outlook will automatically display the profile pictures of your online contacts. To disable this feature follow the steps below.

How to Hide Outlook Profile Pictures

  • Click on File > Options > Contacts.
  • Scroll to the "Online status and photographs" section.
  • Uncheck "Show user photographs when available".

  • Click on OK and restart Outlook.

You have saved me from tipping over the edge with irritation - now that you have explained how to switch off the silly picture/initials avatars on incoming email messages. My other searches for this solution kept leading me to folk who did not understand the question and/or offered ineffectual solutions.
