Windows Installer has stopped working: Windows 7
Sometimes when you are trying to install a new program on your PC, you might encounter difficulties if your Windows Installer doesn't work properly. In this case, you will see the error "Windows Installer Has Stopped Working" on your screen. Don't worry, you can fix it. Read on to discover how.
If you see a “Windows Installer Has Stopped Working”, follow these steps to fix it:
- Click on the Start button and select Run, then type regedit. (You can also open the Run window by pressing Windows + R keys simultaneously).
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions.
- Look for the MachineThrottling key and delete it.
- Close the registry editor and restart your PC.
