Turn off Messenger chat heads/bubbles on Android

Every time you receive a new message in the Facebook Messenger mobile app, a small notification with the contact's picture — called a Chat Head — is displayed on your screen. You can use it to quickly answer a message without closing other apps. If you don't like this feature, here we'll explain how to turn it off.

What are Facebook chat heads?

Chat heads or bubbles on Facebook Messenger let you read and reply to messages while you are using other apps. You will see a bubble every time you get a new message, and you can read it and reply without leaving the screen you are currently on. You can move chat heads around your screen or close them if you are not continuing to chat. It's a handy feature that is only available for Messenger on Android devices.

How to turn off the chat heads or Android bubbles

• Open the Facebook Messenger app and go to Chats.
• Scroll down to Bubbles and select Nothing can bubble to switch off this feature. If you will want to activate it again, select All conversations can bubble or Selected conversations can bubble options.
