I have a Dell XPS 13 on Windows 10. Suddenly, my browsers stopped working, other features stopped connecting to the internet. Even though in the taskbar, it says that the system is connected to the WiFi.
I've tried: Restarting my computer, restarting my router and I've done all the winsock resets. I've also gone through all previous answers to this problem. But, none of the solution worked for me.
Wifi was working fine for all my devices except the Laptop. "Connected - No internet access" was the message. I tried several solutions from Google search in vain. Your solution was short and sweet and my laptop became alive once again. Thanks a lot!
Ambucias,
I have tried all the CMD resets, disabled the firewall. I have tried everything suggested in all the threads. Nothing is working. CMD keeps telling me access is denied. Can you help?
I'm running into the same issue where my browsers don't work but my other programs can connect. I've tried running your command line and I keep seeing the following:
Resetting, Failed.
Access is denied.
Everything up to that point keeps saying OK!
Is there something I'm missing? Thanks for the help.
I have the same problem as above. I reset it on Wednesday and it worked till Friday then failed again. Am using administrator command prompt but still getting resetting failed, access denied, but also getting reset ok. After rebooting laptop chrome opens but stops with 'chrome not responding'. Jacquie
I too am having this same exact problem. I have ran all the cmd prompts in admin mode. (More than once actually) The problem keeps reoccurring.
I have...so far.....
Uninstalled and reinstalled all my browsers.
Ran all Malware/Spyware/Virus scanners (too many to list..trust me)
I have 2 separate dvd's with an independent boot sector virus scanner. (you know the drill, you do a selective start up and have it boot to the disk...blah, blah, blah) They both found nothing.
I have restarted the router.
I have gone through my task manager and researched anything and everything that I didn't know exactly what they were. Most were ligit...the rest are gone.
Important note: No other computer in my house is having this problem. (yet?)
If anyone (!) has an idea of anything I may have missed please respond.
This is becoming an obsession.
See my two posts below Feb 11 and Feb 18th. Downloaded newest version of McAfee Removal Tool. Rebooted, then went to settings - Windows Defender for the built in antivirus and firewall. Probably I'd also open Task Manager, go to Start up, and disable those programs you don't need. Did this on my laptop after the Desktop was "fixed" and everything working fine.
But do we know what about McAfee (if it is the cause) specifically that is the problem? I do have it, but would be more inclined to try playing with the settings first than just deciding to remove it, or hope an update fixes the problem, since it would seem an update would be the likely culprit for the program acting differently since I know my machine came with this version of McAfee and never had any problems with before this month.
I am experimenting to see if it is the firewall specifically that is causing the problem. Turning off real time protection didn't prevent the browsers from locking up eventually again, but so far, the disabling of the firewall is working, but more time to see if that is the key to McAfee problem.
Definitely the firewall, There is a fix coming, though their tech was vague about exactly when to expect it. Looking at the date of the last update for the firewall (2/6), it matches perfectly to the time my issues began.
Short term, turning off the McAfee Firewall seems to stop the issue. The permanent fix is via an update to the firewall. This might have started to be rolled out, because I know I downloaded a McAfee update on Thursday, and have the firewall back on today, but until I get through the day without an issue, I can't 100% say the firewall fix has taken hold yet.
This fix worked like a charm after countless hours struggling to get a damn page to load . And the sad part is that the pages I am trying to load was for the fix to the problem of browsers not loading. But thank you kind sir...You are a hero
Having exact same problems as prior messages on multiple computers. (Laptops and desktops - all with windows10) Loss of internet connectivity after visiting a number of websites. OK if stay on just one. Wifi and ethernet seem connected but all browsers just sit and spin. Incredimail locks also. Been using fix above at command prompt. Works but issue reoccurs after 1-6 hours. Have run multiple viral and malware scans. Cleaned out Temp files and resolved any registry issues - no difference. Also, disabled all on board adapters and used new USB ethernet adapter with Windows 10 drivers preinstalled - no difference. All this has begun over past several weeks.
I am also obsessed with this. After trying all mentioned solutions, I spent an hour on the phone with Verizon Fios and they performed an IP reset (not the one mentioned here) and we rebooted all equipment. My tech guy said to make sure I have the most recent equipment They said that they have had numerous calls about this and that it is related to a Windows 10 issue. I thought the problem was solved, but alas, it has returned!
I don't think it's related to Windows 10, since I've had the same issue on my 8.1 machine at work since 2/6/17. One thing seems clear: there's something going around even if it isn't a virus or malware. My machine was fine when I left it the previous week, but when I used it on that Monday, it started giving me problems. More so in Chrome, but once the browser stops responding, then Windows Live Mail will also crash and none of the other browsers will open or if they do, not be able to go to any website or page.
This is a followup of my previous post. Took the desktop to my favorite computer repair shop run by a Russian family. Mostly they reduced the number of startup programs and removed McAfee. They installed MS Defender which comes with Windows - no problem at all now. Works perfectly. Was having same problem with my laptop. Removed McAfee and again installed MS Defender. Only removed a few startup programs but so far working fine.
Same freaking thing happened to me. Couldn't access any internet, although I was connected via either hard connection or wireless. All browsers, and anything that uses the internet would not function....with no internet
McAfee kept hanging up. I'd click on it and 8-15 minutes later it would respond. I was working on this issue all day with microsoft tech's and then McAfee tech's...who then wanted me to opt for a "you pay, and then we'll fix it". I hung up on them, as they were saying it was a problem with my computer. After working on this for damn near 12 hours straight, I finally have clicked and waited long enough between each step to uninstall McAfee...and guess what? I got online like a charm, with all of my browsers. I wanna choke somebody for ruining an entire day of mine. Excuse me McAfee, can I get you to pay me for a 12 hour shift? Or can I rob 12 hours straight of your lives? The fix up above only solved my issue for a nanosecond on each restart, it would work, then nothing else...no second web page.
I dont have McAfee install in my laptop but the microsoft edge and google chrome is not working the only thing working is the firefox Its say that "this site can't be reached" I format my laptop yet It still got the same problem
I tried it on my computer but it didnt work and this was something that happened
